all is leaf, so to amplify the wonder: Cameraless 16mm workshops

SATURDAY 28 SEPTEMBER, 11.00-18.00, END OF THE LANE SCREEN & STUDIO

To accompany Rosalind Fowler's weekend installation all is leaf, so to amplify the wonder, Fowler and artist James Holcombe will lead two days of workshops.

Join Holcombe for a drop-in session to make experimental cameraless films using dried herbs and natural materials, inspired by readings from old herbals. These will be stuck onto clear 16mm film to create patterns, marks and shapes that will be projected back at the end of the sessions.

Holcombe’s work combines material engagement with photochemical film, expanded through projection and improvisation across both sound and image.

SUNDAY 29 SEPTEMBER, 11.00-18.00, END OF THE LANE SCREEN & STUDIO

On Sunday, Fowler and Holcombe will lead sessions using printed 16mm footage from their latest work. Responding to the symbolic, mythical, and healing properties of herbs, participants will collectively re-form the footage through splicing, mark-making and tinting, using thorns, bark and plants foraged at local community growers, OrganicLea. We will finally create a loop and project alongside sounds and readings from old herbals.

All welcome and free of charge.
