Bani Khoshnoudi's Fireflies is a film about diaspora; finding oneself when lost in a world of translations and cultural barriers. Ramin (Arash Marandi) is a gay Iranian who has fled his country searching for hope. As a refugee, his aim is to land in Europe however destiny leads his path of exile to a Mexican port.

Juggling new relationships whilst trying to hold onto the past he has left behind, Ramin is faced with a broad horizon of choices for where to take his life and must create the freedom he seeks to obtain.
