Leytonstone music festival Shake The High Road, who have been hosting bands and DJs across E11 for the past two years, has teamed up with Mexican Summer, one of the finest independent record labels around, for a special evening of film and music.
They'll be screening new Jonas Mekas-narrated documentary Self Discovery for Social Survival with a special DJ set from Peaking Lights, whose music features in the film, to follow. They will also showcasing a selection of the label’s short films and music videos, and opening the night with a curated playlist of Mexican Summer sounds.
Self Discovery for Social Survival is a collaboration between record label Mexican Summer and Pilgrim Surf + Supply, filmed on location in Mexico, the Maldives and Iceland. Surfers in the film include seven time world champion Stephanie Gilmore, Creed McTaggart, and Ryan Burch, with an original soundtrack featuring music by Peaking Lights, Allah Las, Connan Mockasin, and Andrew Van Wyngarden of MGMT.
Peaking Lights are a hugely respected duo of sonic adventurers, noted for combining elements of dub, Krautrock, disco, and psychedelic pop.GO BACK
