Ugwumpiti and other migration stories

SUNDAY 29 SEPTEMBER, 12.00, LEYTONSTONE SOCIAL CLUB

Stories & Supper are bringing refugee stories – on film and in person – to Leytonstone Loves Film.

Ugwumpiti (U)

They'll be screening Eithne Nightingale's short film Ugwumpiti, an account of Maurice Nwokeji's childhood experience of the Biafran war and life in the UK as a young refugee. The film will be followed by a panel exploring the experiences of child refugees.

They'll also bring you migration stories from Ghana, Sierra Leone, Iraq and beyond and, you can fill your belly as well as your mind, with some amazing global street food.

Stories & Supper is a refugee supper club project based in Waltham Forest which aims to change the narrative about migration. Launched in 2017, they bring refugees, migrants and local volunteers together to produce great food and inspiring stories.
